ANCIENT JAIN CENTRES

 

Maleyuru - (1 KM) It has a huge granite stone temple built in three apartments in continuity in 9th century. The idol of Adinatha Swamy (3 feet) in the standing posture occupies the sanctum sanctorum. The temple has under gone renovations at times.    

 

Harave - (3 KMS) The Jain devotees Devarasara, Somaiye and Gummaiye built this temple in 1486 A.D.as blessed by Prabendhu and Prabhachandra Munis.

 

Kelasuru - (30 KMS) It is also called udyogapura in the inscriptions. There is a Chandranathaswamy temple here. Sri Veerasenacharya the author of the popular Sri Dhavalaagamashastra lived here.

 

Chamarajanagar - (22 KMS) There are two Jain shrines here the one ancient Trikuta temple built in 1117 A.D. by Punisadandanayaka, the commander in the court of Hoysala King Gangaraja. The stone idol of Sri Vijaya Parshwanatha is found in the sanctum sanctorum. Another Jain temple called Sri Parshwanatha Swamy Basadi contains many idols made of panchaloha. 

 
Muguru - (40 KMS) Sri Adinatha Swamy and Sri Parshwanatha Swamy constitute the main deities of the place.
 

Kuderu -  The Jain temple here is devoted to Sri Adinatha Swamy and other Jaina idols of both metal and stone. It has got the Unique heritage of processing the ancient idol of Sri Brahma Yaksha. The shravakas hailing from Depangudi Kshetra of Madurai province built this temple about 800 years ago.   

Ummathur - This has a Jain temple with Sri Mahavira Tirthankara as the main idols and is unique in the province. The idol is very beautiful and is about 3 feet in height. This big temple was built by Payanna of Penukonda. This temple is under renovation. There is also a Shanthinatha temple here.

 

Tagaduru - There is an ancient Sri Adinatha Temple belonging to 13th century. It is nearer to Kavalande the village, situated in between Nanjanagud and Kanakagiri. One can reach the place from Kavalande railway statin through Devanur.

 

Aechiganahalli - (35 KMS) This beautiful temple is situated in the bank of Kapila river. Sri Neminatha Swamy constitutes the main deity with many other Jaina idols. The statue of SRi Brahmadeva is attractive in its appearance.  

 
Kadakola - It is situated about 14 Kms from Mysore. There is a Mahavira Chaityalaya built by shravakas.
